El Faro: steep streets, sea views and one very useful lighthouse

Half the addresses we serve in El Faro come with the same instruction: find the Calaburras lighthouse, then head uphill. The urbanisations climb the slope in tiers behind the old N-340, each reached by a short service road off the carriageway — and several of those entrances can only be taken from one direction of travel. So we do not plan El Faro by clock order. The driver groups stops by carriageway, taking the Fuengirola-bound entrances on the way out and the Marbella-bound ones on the return, and notes your side of the road after the first order.

The hill is the other factor. Streets narrow as they rise, turning space is scarce, and plenty of sea-view villas keep their front door a flight of steps above or below the garage. When stopping outside your gate is not practical, the driver parks at the first wide point and covers the last stretch on foot; you never carry anything further than your own door.
