Torreblanca: the hill at Fuengirola's eastern edge

Where Fuengirola runs out of flat ground, Torreblanca begins. The streets of Torreblanca del Sol stack up the slope between the old coast road and the A-7, several of them doubling back on a hairpin before they reach the top. Our van copes with the gradient; what it cannot always do is turn around in a cul-de-sac. So we ask clients on the upper streets for a WhatsApp location pin and one plain landmark — “second hairpin above the station” tells the driver more than a street number ever will. On the tightest lanes he leaves the van at a wider bend and walks the last stretch to your gate.

The hill has a settled population to match. Torreblanca and neighbouring Los Pacos hold one of the coast's oldest Scandinavian communities — Finnish and Swedish families here all year — alongside long-term British residents on the upper terraces. Most of our work here is repeat household washing rather than holiday changeovers: a six-to-eight-kilo weekly bag at €6.99 per kilo, picked up at the same hour each week.

The Cercanías stop at the foot of the hill sets the timetable. Plenty of residents ride the C-1 to Málaga and get home after seven, which is exactly what the 19:00–21:00 collection window is for. A few skip the climb entirely and hand the driver their bag by the station on the way up.
